Milkweed Blossoms

Air, perfumed by the scent of milkweed blossoms, fills the morning space where I meet my God. I have no need of incense to lift my prayers today; nature gathers them in her arms and offers them up to him who has created all things; the circle is complete: Creator and created join together in a bond that cannot be broken. They belong with one another; they long to be with one another; being with one another is their desire and joy.

Judith,
I love the beautiful descriptive language of this poem.
While engaging, it is not forceful.
It is elevating to the spirit, yet doesn't ignore -- but rather includes -- the physical material creation in a oneness of relationship with God ...
I'd say the poem bears a redemptive motif.

Thank you Peter for taking the time to comment on my latest poem. The perfume of the milkweed flowers is intense and heady. The milkweed is purported to be the only plant that the Monarch butterflies will lay their eggs on. How specific is God's creative power and plan if this is true?
